Who plays Warcraft here? I played it several times before but not an avid player.
But as I have mentioned before, whenever there is a movie about superheros, people with extraordinary power or imaginary land with mystical animal, I am down to it!
So, when I received an invitation from Abang Budiey to watch the premiere of Warcraft: The Beginning, I was just ecstatic and escalated!
SYNOPSIS
The movie is about the group of orcs (called as Horde) trying to invade Azeroth (land of the human) as their own land is dying.
Using Gul'dan's strange magic (called the fel), Horde passed through a magical portal from their land to Azeroth. Opening the portal requires life and as their life supply (from the prisoners) were limited, Gul'dan can only take a handful of the Horde to pass through the portal and look for more prisoners to maintain the portal.
Durotan's wife delivered a stillborn baby after passing through the portal but Gul'dan managed to bring it back to life by absorbing a deer's life to infuse life into the baby.
Khadgar, a young mage, realised that the villagers were killed using the Fel and urged King Llane to inform the Guardian named Medivh. While following the traces of the Fel, the team was ambushed by a group of Horde but Medivh managed to kill some of the green orcs using his spell. Garona, a half-orc was captured by Khadgar and was presented to King Llane. In exchange for her safety, Garone swore her loyalty to King Llane.
Durotan realised that Gul'dan's magic that was killing their former land and he knows that the same fate will befall upon Azeroth if he is not stopped. Durotan made a secret pact with King Llane via Garona's help to unite and fight Gul'dan. And Khadgar realised that Gul'dan couldn't have opened a portal to Azeroth without assistance from someone in Azeroth.
The secret meeting was ambushed by Blackhand that is loyal to Gul'dan. Medivh who was severely weakened, was put into rest in his mana pool where Khadgar noticed that Medivh is infected by the Fel. He quickly goes to Dalaran to seek help of the Kirin Tor. Meanwhile, Medivh is completely corrupted with Fel magic and turns evil.
Durotan, who was captived by Gul'dan and his army, challenges Gul'dan to a single combat where Durotan was finally killed by Gul'dan by using his magic. This act disgust the orcs and proclaims that they will no longer follows Gul'dan. Gul'dan drains their life to frighten the other orcs.
Meanwhile, Medivh in his half-demon state starts to open the portal. Gul'dan drains more life from his prisoner to keep the portal open.
What will happen to Azeroth?
Will good wins over evil?
What will happen to Duraton's baby?
MY REVIEW Plot: 4.0/ 5.0. I love the plot of the movie, it enable a non-Warcraft player to understand the game/ movie a bit. But hey, I might be biased as I love this genre of movies.
The Act: 4.6/ 5.0. The act was quite OK and the CGI was good too.
Will I watch it again: I don't mind watching it again with the right company.
