Malaysia Launches Garmin Fenix 5 Series

I have been searching around for that one amazing wearable that will read my exercise movement, let me swim in it and yet still very fashionable too.

So, on 29 March 2017, I was invited to the launch of Garmin Fenix 5 Series that boast beautiful, multisport and fashionable GPS watches for fitness, adventure and style.
The new Garmin Fenix 5 Series is a new range of rugged and compact multisport GPS watches designed and created for adventurers, athletes, sports enthusiasts and people who take performance seriously. The Garmin Fenix 5 Series comprises five distinct models Fenix 5, Fenix 5 Sapphire, Fenix 5S, Fenix 5S Sapphire and Fenix 5X. The new range split the line into three distinct sizes instead of one large size (a great news to us Asians) ie a small Fenix 5S in 42mm size, medium Fenix 5 with a 47 mm and large Fenix 5X with a 51mm diameter. 

The Garmin Fenix 3 Series

Some of the marvellous enhancement that Garmin Fenix 5 Series boast:

• Offers a variety of stainless steel finishes
• Quickfit interchangeable bands that allow you to switch from workout mode to work mode, to leisure mode in an instant, just with a swift movement
• It is water-rated to 100 meters. Hooray for swimmers and divers!
• Depending on settings, the Fenix 5 can get up tp two weeks of battery life in smartwatch mode or twenty-four hours in GPS mode.
• The series displays information on a bright, high-resolution, full-colour Garmin Chroma Display with LED backlighting.
• Since Garmin is the leader in satellite navigation, Garmin gears the Fenix 5 with advanced GPS and GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) satellite reception to support users with sufficient information for their tracking adventure. So, no matter where you are, you will not get lost.
• The biggest one, the Fenix 5X, is a more serious watch for the outdoor life and sports enthusiasts – it comes preloaded with a topographic map, cycling maps and advanced navigation features such as Round Trip Run and Round Trip Ride. Round Trip Run and Round Trip Ride allow you to set a particular distance you want to run or cycle and have the Fenix 5X automatically generate a round trip route based on that. 

Did I mention that Garmin Fenix 5 Series has also been named as a CES 2017 Innovation Awards Honouree in the wearable technologies category? Yes, Fenix 5 is one of the CES 2017 Innovation Awards Honouree!

According to Mr Ong Chang Seng (AECO Technologies' Managing Director), Fenix 5 and Fenix 5S are available in stores whereas Fenix 5X will be available in April 2017. The pricing for Fenix 5 and Fenix 5S is RM2,899.00 while the Fenix 5 Sapphire and Fenix 5S Sapphire will retail at RM3,149.00. The Fenix 5X will retail at RM3,999.00.
I wonder which one will be my choice?
