It has been quite some time since I last have a road trip with friends to locations in Malaysia. The last trip was to Penang and I had a great fun with my hommies. Haha.

The organizers |
So, when I received an invitation by Selangor Tourism Association (STA), Destination Perak and Perak Tourism for a Fun Drive To Ipoh 2017, I immediately accepted it and knowing that I will be driving with Mahamahu there, I was ecstatic. I know that the drive will be very fun and full of sharing sessions.
The morning of the drive, all participants were required to assemble for a briefing session at Goldcourse Hotel, Klang before the flag off. Instead of making the drive as a treasure hunt, where all participants just drove around in haste, STA, Destination Perak and Perak Tourism decided to brand it as Fun Drive as they wanted all participants to enjoy the drive and the views.
For the drive, all participants were required to drive to Perak using the old highway, which cuts across villages and old roads. Yes, it was long and winding but I get to know more about Selangor and Perak along the way. The tulip given was also a matter of importance as every pit stop was measured in KM and not a particular landmark, as of any other treasure hunts.

We thought that this amazing place is a part of the answer to the clues, but it wasn't |

Solving the tulip was the highlights of my ride with Mahamahu. Even though it was a fun drive, our competitive nature took the best of us. We tried our best to follow the tulip and strained our thoughts as to how to solve the clues. We quarrelled over some but most of the times, we laughed when we thought of funny answers to the clues.
Along the old roads, I managed to see the vast paddy fields in Sekinchan, De Palma Eco Resort (the only eco resort in Kuala Selangor), Sabak Bernam and the entrance to Pantai Cermin (I have to visit this soon). We also went to The Kabin, but the place was closed at that moment - another interesting homestay in Selangor. I just wished that I could spend longer time (perhaps a staycation hint hint) at one of these places because I know the beauty and the experience that they have to offer to both local and international tourists.
Our last pit stop was at Tanjung Tualang Tin Dredge No. 5 (TT5), the last tin dredging boat in Malaysia. It was such a magnificent view and all thanks to the trip that I have been able to capture a moment with such an iconic historical piece of Malaysia.

In was scorching hot and I forced them to smile in front of Kellie's Castle |
After lunch, we continued our drive to Ipoh whereby we stopped at Kellie's Castle. Kellie's Castle is such a beautiful location to take pictures at, in the daytime that is. I dare not taking pictures at night in the scariest place in Malaysia. Imma ascaredy cat like that. Hahaha. So, that's two locations that I have managed to tick off from my To-Do List, all thanks to STA and Perak Tourism.
In Ipoh, we checked in into M Motel at Meru, Ipoh. A very cute hotel and located strategically next to Terminal Aman Jaya, Mydin Mall Meru Jaya and Jabatan Audit Negeri Perak, Ipoh. In fact, you can just google Jabatan Audit Negeri Perak, Ipoh and the hotel is located facing the entrance of the office.

At 6:30 pm, we went to Lost World of Tambun (LWOT) where dinner and the prize giving ceremony to the winners of the treasure hunt took place. After which, all of us took a dip at its water park and I spent the next two hours dipping myself in its hot springs. That was so relaxing!
