My Fun Cooking 2017 Kicks Off @ One Space, The Square Subang

I grew up watching Lee Kum Kee's TV commercial and loving its sauces as my mum cooked everything with them.  In fact, nowadays, I cook with the sauces every now and then (albeit I rarely cook).

So, when I learn that Lee Kum Kee is organizing a cooking competition 'My Fun Cooking 2017' I was excited to watch - not to cook. Sorry to disappoint you guys. My cooking is not safe to be served to the public hahaha. Might have some health issues after consuming my dishes.

I learn that My Fun Cooking 2017 aims to enhance the quality of family bonding by cooking together, using Lee Kum Kee's sauces and condiments of course. The competition is staged for the purpose of encouraging young children to explore their cooking talents and enjoy joyous cooking moments with their family members.

Each participating team requires two family members to take part, with one of them being a child aged between 10 - 18 and the other one being their parent/ guardian. The young participants are given a fixed budgets to buy ingredients from SKM Market. There is a main ingredient with which the team has to prepare within the time limit and of course using Lee Kum Kee's sauces.

The one that I attended on 15 October was the first round of three and there will be four teams during each round. One winner will be selected from each round. The three round winners will be competing during the Final Round on 12 November 2017 alongside with Mr Peter Davis, a celebrity.

For the first round, the main ingredient was chicken. Within minutes after coming back from shopping for ingredients at SKM Market, the competition area was filled with the sound of condiments being blended and instructions being given to the kids by their older partner. All electrical appliances used during the event are sponsored by Electrolux and Desa Homes Theatre Sdn Bhd.

Once the judges tasted the food prepared by the four themes, it was decided that a team made of a mum and her daughter won the first round. Mrs Kat Kok Han Teng and daughter, Chloe Chong Cheng Yee won the first round with their dish of Kum Kee Golden Patties.

Throughout the competition, I saw some kid contestants that knew their way around the kitchen and there were some that were clueless. At the same time, it was a cute scene too to watch the family bonding throughout the competition.
