Green Book [Movie Review]

When I watched the trailer of the movie, I was very interested in viewing it. Then the Director of the office tells the office that she wants the whole office to view it together as a group training.

The movie is set in 1962 and Frank 'Tony Lip' Vallelonga is searching for a new job when the club he works at is closed for renovations. He gets invited for an interview as a driver for Dr Don Shirley. Little that he knows that Dr Don Shirleyis a black pianist.

Tony, being the racist that he is, at first was a bit reluctant to be Dr Shirley's driver and demands higher pay, just so that Dr Shirley will not employ him. After Dr Shirley calls Dolores (Tony's wife) and asks her permission to hire her husband for the next 8 weeks to be his driver for the pay that Tony requested, Tony agrees to be the driver.
Dr Shirley's record label gives Tony a copy of the Green Book, a guide for black travellers to find motels, restaurants and filling stations that would serve people of color. Tony, being the hard-headed person that he is, insists of not wearing a uniform like any other driver. 
Along the way, there were a lot of quarrels and misunderstandings between them - just because of their clashing attitudes and skills. Dr Shirley is a man of fine manners and courtesy whereas Tony grows on the street and only handles matter the street-style way. But in the end, Tony will always listen to Dr Shirley's advise, just because he is 'the boss'. 

Also along the way, Tony learns to appreciate Dr Shirley's talent and becomes less racist towards the people of color when he sees the discrimination by the people, especially when he is not performing. After Dr Shirley was assaulted by a group of white men in a bar, Tony instructs Dr Shirley not to go out without him for the rest of the tour.
Throughout the tour, they both learn and grow from each other. Dr Shirley helps Tony to write romantic letters to his wife whereas Tony teaches Dr Shirley how to enjoy life.  

Will this friendship last or is it just professional courtesy?
MY REVIEW Plot: 4.9/ 5.0 I love the movie so much. It tells me about respect, love and the sacrifice in acquiring love and respect too. I love how light yet very informative and engaging the movie was. It will bring you through a journey of extreme hate and discrimination that the colored people have to endure during the era. And for Dr Shirley to be a black gay man, made it all even more difficult.      Cast: 4.9/ 5.0 Everybody played their part marvellously.
