Aladdin [Movie Review]

Growing up watching the cartoon 'Aladdin', I would say that I know the lyrics by heart.
Arabian nights Like Arabian days More often than not are hotter than hot In a lot of good ways

So, it is by default that I watch the movie when it airs.
A fact: Aladdin is a musical fantasy film directed by Guy Ritchie, so expect a lot of singing ok.

Aladdin, a young street urchin saves and befriends Princess Jasmine, who has snuck out of the palace. He then shows Princess Jasmine his place that overlooks the vast of Agrabah. Princess Jasmine hides her true identity and identifies herself as Dalia, the handmaiden of Princess Jasmine.
Meanwhile, Jafar was seen ushering a man into the Cave of Wonders, in the hope that the man will help him finding the lamp. The man fails and this makes him agitated. He has to find the right person to enter the cave and bring back the lamp that will assist him in his quest of becoming the Sultan.

When Aladdin sneaks into the palace to meet with Princess Jasmine and to return the bracelet, he was caught by Jafar's men when he was exiting the place. Jafar brings him to the cave to retrieve the lamp. In the cave, Aladdin rescues the trapped magical carpet.

Abu, Aladdin's pet monkey who loves everything shiny, couldn't keep his hands to himself and pick up a huge bloodred jewel that causes the cave to shook. With the carpet's help, both Aladdin and Abu try to escape the cave. Jafar offers to help but as soon as he gets the lamp, Jafar steps on Aladdin's finger that causes him to fall deeper into the cave. 

Oh my. I am a puppet now?

Shiny. So shiny. 

Abu was fast to get the lamp back from Jafar.
Aladdin rubs the lamp and out a blue genie from it, promising to grant Aladdin his three wishes.
Aladdin's life-changing adventure starts here with Genie, Abu and the flying carpet. Be prepared to laugh, cry and also some actions throughout this musical fantasy film.

Will Genie be able to assist Aladdin in achieving his dreams?
MY REVIEW Plot: 4.7/ 5.0 Nothing new, as the storyline is the same as the one before this and as it was in the cartoon. Some differences - Jafar wants to invade a nearby country and not marry Princess Jasmine, Iago doesn't really speak, Princess Jasmine wants to become Sultan. And why do I feel like I was watching a Bollywood movie instead of a Middle East-influenced movie? Expect to laugh a lot. And it helps if you remember the lyrics too.
Cast: 4.9/ 5.0 Will Smith as Genie is hilarious. Mena as Aladdin and Naomi as Princess Jasmine was very convincing. I also love Nasim as Dalia - she is one funny lady.
Will I watch it again: I will, to accompany my nephews and nieces. The pictures are taken from IMDb and other sources on the Internet. Thank you.
