Luckin Kopi Brings The Best of Malaysian and Fusion Food | My day job requires me to interact with international friends and most of the time, I will be going around Selangor and Kuala Lumpur sharing with them the gems of our culture - and that includes good food.
In my search for a good place to eat, I came across Luckin Kopi by chance (too much reading foodie blogs actually hahaha). The best thing about the cafe is it is very accessible - you could use public transport or you could drive. And I chose to bring my friends on MRT ride for the day as we explore Kuala Lumpur.
Address: 14, Jalan Panggong, City Centre, 50000 Kuala Lumpur
Direction: https://goo.gl/maps/ShuWLAwnKggTSoYp8
Disembarking at Pasar Seni station, Luckin Kopi is just 5 minutes walking from the station. When we arrived, the cafe was already packed - people were having their late lunch or having afternoon tea.
As we were in a considerably large group, we were ushered to the second floor of the cafe. But before going up, I decided to have a look at the colonial-esque design of the ground floor.
The ground floor is divided into two sections, the front part and the behind part. In between, there's a beautiful white spot with a huge aquarium that is so instagrammable. I didn't manage to get a decent picture here because the cafe was packed with patrons and almost everyone wants to pose here. All these pictures are taken from #LuckinKopi. I will come again and pose there next time - haha.
FUN FACT: Luckin Kopi believes in a community where everyone connects with each other and Luckin Kopi wants to bring people in together with a cup of coffee. Luckin means 'Fortune' which is closely related with the Oranda: a breed of goldfish that symbolizes good luck and fortune.
Once seated and given the menu, I was beaming with pride at the list of food there. Luckin Kopi has all the all-time local favourites and some fusion food too. So, my international friends will be able to enjoy the local favourites without having to travel to different locations. So, here's what we ordered and indulged in.

So these are some of the main dishes that we've ordered and finished in a matter of minutes (okay. That's way to much exaggeration hahaha). Everybody was happy that the price was very affordable and the portion is quite large. I was the happiest as there were some local favourites and the current craze food (the cheesy menu). We got to curb many cravings with just one visit to Luckin Kopi.
Were we done? Of course not.
We ordered some more as my friends are adventurous like that. Here are some appetizers, desserts and drinks that we ordered. I strongly advised them to try the local 'kopi' - just so they will be able to compare with the hipster/ trending coffee.

The dim sum sets are for breakfast - this is the latest on the menu #RawlinsRecommends |

Banana Nutella Toast RM4.50 |
|
Luckin Toast RM12.90 |

After all those delicious servings, the gang was ready to explore the nearby Pasar Seni and Petaling Street. Now you know why I bulked them up, they will be needing the energy to walk those streets and bargaining for the items that they want.
My Review of Luckin Kopi, Jalan Panggong, KL
The Food: 4.9/ 5.0 The cafe is a hub for our local favourites. It has almost everything (yet to see food from Sabah and Sarawak - maybe soon). The flavours are authentic and the portion is just nice for a person.
The Price: 4.8/5.0 The price is very affordable and I was actually a bit shocked to find such a good bargain in the middle of Kuala Lumpur.
The Cafe: 4.7/ 5.0 Since Luckin Kopi is a two-storey cafe, you'll surely find a place for you and your troupe. I love the minimalist concept of the cafe but depicts the Malaysian heritage just nicely. And the colonial finishing of the walls (visible red bricks) tops the beautiful touch for the cafe.
I'd better follow Luckin Kopi on all its social media platforms - just in case they'll bring in some delicious food from Sabah and Sarawak right.
