Hotel Maya Tickles My Fancy Over Its Innovative Dining Experience | Hotel Maya, Kuala Lumpur is the first hotel that invited me for a dinner session, post-MCO. And as we are still being cautious and whatnot, I was well-prepared with my mask, hand sanitizers, and gloves, going into the hotel on the night of the dinner. 

From past experiences, when it is a dinner session, you'll expect a buffet line already when you arrived later than everyone else at the hotel. But this time, I was surprised to see that everyone was seated at their designated tables, two persons per table. 
Yeay! No longer need to feel anxious about social distancing. 
I was greeted by Ms Sharmini (General Manager) and Ms Christy (Director of Sales & Marketing) at the entrance and briefed me that the dinner will be served direct from the kitchen to my table soon enough. 
I was impressed! Another tick for adhering to the Government's advice on food preparation during MCO.
Once all of us have arrived, Ms Sharmini started the session by giving us a briefing about Hotel Maya efforts in facing the trying time of Covid-19.
'After a two-month closure following the MCO, Hotel Maya is now ready to welcome guests back with a new menu, dining set-up, and its rooms with social distancing guidelines since June 10, 2020.  We have put up a lot of thought into ensuring a seamless experience despite the strict guidelines to social distance ourselves. 
Now, we opened all our dining venues with just ONE innovative menu, featuring all signature items from the Japanese and Cantonese restaurant (Still Waters), all-day dining (Maya Brasseries), and deli (Ramah-Tamah).' said Ms Sharmini.
Wow. Meaning, one gets to order their favorite dishes from one menu that features all signature items from three different dining restaurants! That's one creative thinking - functioning at a minimum capacity without losing its star items and identities. 
So, what's the menu like?
Aptly named the Set Menu, it contains a choice of one appetizer, a soup, a few main dishes and a choice of one dessert that portrays signature items such as:

• Japanese Breaded Tiger Prawns
• Stewed Australian Ribeye with Miso Paste
• Braised Hot & Sour Szechuan Soup
• Braised Duck with Ginger and fresh Shiitake Mushroom
• Creamy Chicken with Curry Leaves and Homemade Spicy Dried Shrimp Sauce
• Deep Fried Spicy Seabass Fillet with Homemade Plum Sauce & Shredded Young Mango  
• Supreme Spicy Soya Sauce Tiger Prawns
• Chilled Sea Coconut with Longan and Lemon Syrup
• Double Boiled Dried Pear with Chrysanthemum
• Sea Bird's Nest, White Fungus and Dried Longan

That's just to name a few star items of Hotel Maya. And we were told that there are three different options for the Set Menu that'll cost from RM60 onwards for two persons. Whereas, RM20 per person is chargeable for an additional companion. 

And if you are in  the mood for a la carte dishes, some of the must-have dishes that await are as follow and priced from RM8 onwards:

•  Nasi Kerabu with Ayam Goreng Berempah
• Nasi Tomato with Ayam Masak Merah
• Olive Vegetable Fried Rice
• Work Fried Shell-less Tiger Prawns with Butter and Golden Oat
• Butter Squid with Salted Egg Yolk

So, here are some of the food that the gang had during dinner. By the end of the course, everyone was full that nobody wanted to hang out together after that - everyone was full and sleepy hahaha. 

Does Hotel Maya offers a breakfast menu too?

Yes, they do. Here at Hotel Maya, they feature Malaysian comfort food, customized sandwiches, pastries, and dessert - whichever you like. The combo features, but not only the listed menu. The combo set is only RM7 with a choice of Kopi Kampung or Teh Tarik and only available on weekdays:

• Nasi Lemak
• Fried Mee Hoon
• Maya's Curry laksa

Not into all the comfort food and prefer sandwiches? Here at Hotel Maya, for only RM13 per set of sandwich, one gets to make one's own sandwich with a vast selection of bread, filling, and dressings at the deli.
