Marrybrown presents a Mala-Tup Menu to spice up your meals | With its motto in mind and Malaysians' love of adding spice into their lives, Marrybrown cooks up 'something different' for their latest menu. Riding on the trend of 'Mala mania' Marrybrown has perfectly combined Sichuan chilli pepper with dried chilli and marinate the chicken, thus the Mala Fried Chicken is born.
“Malaysians always have a love-hate relationship with their spices, yet we truly love having them in our food - it’s like we caught this addictive love bug! Whether it is in our Nasi Lemak or our normal stir-fry dishes, Malaysians are constantly adding on the spice due to the kick it gives. Because of this Mala mania we are seeing over the years now, we want to incorporate Mala into our menu and introduce our very own halal version for everyone to enjoy. When creating this flavour, we at Marrybrown are adamant in ensuring the mouth-numbing Mala taste blends well with the additional spices so that Marrybrown fans can enjoy the wholesome taste with the right level of spiciness, as oppose to a flavour that is too overpowering.” said Dato’ Joshua Liew.
Dato' Joshua Liew, the Chief Executive Officer of Marrybrown mentioned that Malaysians can chow-down on Marrybrown's hot and peppery MB Mala Fried Chicken in four different ways! Spicy-seeking fried chicken lovers have the option to satiate their Mala cravings either with the succulent 2-pc Mala Chicken combo meal or 3-pc Mala Chicken combo meal - both are deliciously paired with a bountiful portion of mashed potato and fresh vegertable sald (pssst.... the salad is very fresh and delicious).
For those who prefer a milder level of spice (point to me), Marrybrown has prepared a suitable dish that will still allow you to enjoy the rich Mala flavour. There is also the option to indulge in the MALA Bubur Ayam Combo - the porridge will ease off the spiciness of the Mala Fried Chicken, yet still allow you to get a taste of the Mala hype! And I kinda in love with the MALA Bubur Ayam Combo with all its Mala Fried Chicken cuts and the cracker mixed well with the Mala powder - totally changed the way I would love to enjoy my porridge in the future.
And for those who are adventurous, you may want to try the fourth option, Mala Box Meal would be the best alternative as it is a combination of the fiery Mala Fried Chicken, a juicy Chicken Burger, vegetable salad, and the well-loved crispy onion rings. You can also add on the spice with the uniquely seasoned Mala fries to chomp on.
Priced from RM 14.60 and above, all four combo meals are served with a refreshing cup of Coca-Cola to help beat the heat.
For all out there, just in case you want to treat me to lunch or dinner in the future, Rawlins and spicy is not a very good combination as I do not do well with spiciness. But I was up for the challenge to try the level of 'Mala-tup ness' of Mala Fried Chicken. I was told to anticipate a punch of flavours at first bite before the intense fiery flavour of the fried chicken MALA-tup in the mouth, leaving the tongue numb and feeling burnt. Again, I never back down from a challenge - so I ordered a few sets of Mala Fried Chicken menu options from the nearest Marrybrown branch ie the 3-pc Mala Chicken combo meal, Mala Box Meal and a side of Mala Bubur Ayam.
So, how 'Mala-tup' was the Mala Fried Chicken menu?
Personally, I have 3 levels of spiciness level. No. 1 - it's just spicy and I can still enjoy the food. No. 2 - the food is spicy enough that I will start scratching my head but bearable and the food is still enjoyable. No. 3 is the most spicy that I will just stop eating the food as I can no longer enjoy it. As for Mala Fried Chicken, I would rate the menu as No. 1 - the spiciness just exploded inside my mouth and it adds up the enjoyment of the whole menu. To me, that is a good move as you want people of all ages to be able to enjoy the menu wholeheartedly - a very smart move there Marrybrown!
And that Mala fries - as a fries lover, it certainly gives you a new experience of eating fries and personally, eating other fries will never be the same after this. The same goes for Mala Bubur Ayam. All those textures and the spices awaken tastebuds that I never knew I had hahaha.
Here's a video of me trying out the MALA-tup menu.
Want them? Order it out as the menu is available from 28 October 2020 till 13 December 2020.
