Rebecca [Movie Review] | So, I watched Rebecca way back in 2020. I don't have the slightest clue why I didn't review it then. And I watched The Haunting (Hill House and Bly Manor) series after this - as it was suggested by Netflix.

• Just as in the book, the new Mrs Winter is never given either a first name or a maiden name.
• Kristin Thomas (Mrs Danvers) didn't realise how frightening her character would end up.

A young woman becomes the wife to Maxim de Winter, a recent widower after a short courtship while she was an assistant to wealthy old lady. 

When the newly married returns to England, there Mrs Winter meet with the whole staff of the huge house  of Mr Winter. She met Mrs Danvers, the housekeeper that keeps on comparing her to the first Mrs Winter, Rebecca.

From what her husband told her, Rebecca died in a boating accident. Jack, Rebecca's cousin tells her otherwise, that Rebecca was murdered. 

Maxim bans Mrs Winter from ever seeing Jack again and he is not to set foot on the manor anymore. Maxim was so angry that he accuses Mrs Winter of having an affair with Jack, to which Mrs Winter denies. 

Determine to unearth the real cause of Rebecca's death, Mrs Winter threatens to fire Mrs Danver if she refuses to cooperate. All seems well until the Manderley Costume Ball. Mrs Danver leads Mrs Winter to put on a similar dress that Rebecca wore the previous year and this infuriates Maxim. 

Mrs Winter was about to flee from her husband when a storm brought ashore a shipwreck with Rebecca's decomposed body onboard. This reopens the investigation on her death. 

Maxim confesses to his wife that he pulled the trigger when Rebecca told him that she was pregnant with someone else's child and later disposed off of her body by sinking the boat with her body. 

Again, determine to prover her husband is innocent, Mrs Winter went through all Rebecca's files and found an evidence that will support her claim. And it seems that Rebecca is no saint, after all. 

Will she be able to prove her husband's innocence? Will she ever be free from Rebecca's shadow?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.6/ 5.0 You have to really watch the movie or you'll miss the twist. At one point, you'll think that the husband is the bad guy. 

Then it is the new wife. Then it is the cousin. Later it is someone else. Believe me, the movie will keep you guessing until the end of it. It's interesting.

Cast: 4.7/ 5.0 The cast delivers beautifully - at times too real. Especially Mrs Danvers. I hate her.

Will I watch it again: I watched it twice already. So figures.
