The Thieves [Movie Review] | I think I started to watch K-dramas and movies since the first MCO. What else is there to do? My cravings for watching movies have to be satiated.
My sister recommended the movie and when the genre says 'Action Comedy' - I was sold.

A trio steals a rare artifact and decides to flee Korea by joining another heist in Macau, led by a master thief, Macau Park. Macau Park starts to recruit more people to join the heist and soon, there were two groups of thieves - Korean and Chinese. So you can imagine when these two gathers - some information was lost in translation that ensues laughter - but mostly results in fights.
Macau informs the group that they are targetting the Tear of the Sun - a valuable diamond in the possession of Tiffany, the mistress of Wei Hong, the powerful crime lord in Macau. The plan is to steal the diamond while Tiffany is enjoying herself in a Macau and later sell it back to Wei Hong. The group was a bit reluctant but agrees quickly when they learnt that the diamond is worth USD20 million.
So, the plan is laid out and everything was waiting for the exact execution by all. Spending too much time together could either make the group or break the group. And both happen to the group. Some members were falling apart while some were falling for each other.
As the plan is being executed, the team, to their dismay, discovers that neither of the two safes in Tiffany's suite contains the diamond. And the police manages to get the wind of the heist and has planned a trap.
While escaping, some of the members were killed and captured. Macau Park, however, manages to steal the diamond from a safety deposit box and runs with it.
The remaining member of the heist learns about Macau's betrayal and decides to find Macau to get their share of the diamond.
Is there really no honour among thieves?
MY REVIEW
Plot: 4.6/ 5.0 True to the genre, the movie is an action-comedy. The scenes were seamless. The plot is sweet. It got me thinking as one of the members to ascertain who took the diamond and how.
Cast: 4.6/ 5.0 This group really delivers. They were funny when they were funny and they fought like their lives were depending on it. I love the movie!
Will I watch it again: I don't mind watching it again.
The pictures are taken from multiple sources on the Internet. Thank you.

ReplyDeletei am surprised to see a hong kong actor in the photos after seeing that it is a korean movie. definitely need to watch this one, action-comedy is just one of the best genres there is out there!
ReplyDeleteI'm amused to see that Macau scam exists everywhere, even in Korea. You'd think ppl in first world countries would be smart enough not to get scammed.
