Dead Silence [Movie Review] | This movie that has been on my list fo quite some time. And I finally managed to watch it online. 

Dead Silence is directed by our beloved James Wan - so it is a must watch to me!

• Somehow, the Jigsaw's doll from 'Saw' is also in this movie. 
• Billy is also the name of the puppet doll used by the Jigsaw killer in 'Saw'.
• Due to the film's box office failure, tentative plans for a sequel was cancelled. 

Jamie and his wife, Lisa receives a ventriloquist doll called 'Billy'. The box was place in front of their apartment's door, with no name and address of the sender. James leaves Lisa to pick up their dinner.

Lisa was boiling water when she hears giggles from the bedroom, where she left Billy earlier. What was supposed to be a surprise for her husband turns out to be deadly to her as it seems that Billy attacked her.

When Jamie comes home with dinner, he thinks that he hears Lisa calling him from the bedroom. He goes in only to find Lisa's body on their bed with her tongue cut out. 

Jamie was brought in into the police station and later released due to lack of evidence. 

Following a mysterious message about 'Mary Shaw' a deceased ventriloquist from his hometown, Jamie drives back to his home town to learn more about Mary. There he meets with his father's new wife, Ella. His father shares the rumours about Mary and Jamie dismisses them as superstitions. 

During Lisa's funeral, Jamie meets Marion, the senile wife of Henry, the local mortician. Marion urges Jamie to bury Billy if he wants his bad luck to end. Later, Henry shares the story of Mary - who was a famous ventriloquist in the town. That was until she was publicly humiliated by a boy, Michael who claimed the he could see her lips moving during her performances. Weeks later, Michael disappeared and naturally, Michael's family blamed it on Mary and had their own justice by attacking her. Her last wish was to have her body turned into a dummy and be buried with her 101 dolls. 

Henry, he was a young boy then, saw Mary comes back into life but was spared as he did not screamed. Mary vows to kill anyone that scream when they see her. 

Later, Jamie learns that Michael was his great-uncle. And he learns that his family back then, forced Mary to scream before cutting off her tongue. Thus, Mary's way of revenge is by taking the tongue out from her victims, especially Jamie's family. 

How will Jamie end the attack of Mary Shaw on his family?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 3.8/ 5.0 When you've watched so many horror and thriller movies, you sort of able to guess the direction of the movie and the plot behind it. That's the case with this one. 

The only question that remains a mystery until the end of the movie is the whereabout of Mary. 

Cast: 3.8/ 5.0 The movie could have done better with better actors and also scripts. 

Will I watch it again: I would but not in the very near future.
