Try the Selera Iftar Ramadan Cajun Seafood @ Ombak Kitchen | When the shell-out concept was first introduced in Malaysia, it was a craze. Everywhere is shell-out - nasi kampung shell out, seafood shell-out, nasi ambeng shell-out. 

But the price was T20 - it was not meant for the faint-hearted, like me.  Then the trend kinda tickled down a little.

So, when I was invited for a Ramadan breaking fast with such a concept, I was thrilled to accept the invitation. It was quite some time since I had a shell-out session, and being it a breaking fast, I was extra excited to see what's on the menu.

Thanks Zharif for the invitation. I was told that Ombak Kitchen has three branches - Bukit Jelutong, Bangsar and IOI City Mall. We went to the one in IOI City Mall, the latest branch of the three. 

This Ramadan, Ombak Kitchen promotes the Ramadan set, Selera Iftar Ramadan Cajun Seafood. As Ombak Kitchen is well-known for being "The Best Cajun Seafood Restaurant in Town", it is only natural for them to promote the best of their products.  

What's on the menu?

There are three sets available for the Selera Iftar Ramadan Cajun Seafood, tailor for the number of pax of your group.

Set Shifa @ RM239.90++ for a group of 2-3 pax. The set comes with Slipped Lobster, Prawn Extra Large, Blue Mussel, White Squid, Potato, Corn and Rice.  

Set Najwa @ RM399.90++ for a group of 4-5 pax. It comes with Slipped Lobster, Crab XL, Prawn Extra Large, Scallop Shell On, White Squid, Clam Hamaguri, Cheese Sausage, Potato, Corn and Rice.

Set Alisha @ RM599.90++ for a group of 6-7 pax. The combo entails Lobster Tail, Crab XL, Prawn Extra Large, Scallop Shell On, White Squid, Clam Hamaguri, Cheese Sausage, Potato, Corn and Rice. The set comes with its own appetizer set of Fried Soft Shell Crab, Fried Chicken Wing, Mussel Heritage, Laksa Sauce and Baked Honey Glazed Salmon. 

You need more? Worry not as you can add on items from the menu too. The desserts, fruits and drinks are free flow for the Ramadan Set. 

So, what's my review?

Variety: 4.5/ 5.0 The set here certainly different from the ones at the hotel buffet that I attended.  Believe me, you'll be so full by the end of the dinner.

Taste: 4.4/ 5.0 Tasty Ramadan set with yummy seafood.

Price: 4.5/ 5.0 The price is affordable.

Ambience: 4.4/ 5.0 The IOI City Mall branch has limited seating arrangements so please do book your seats before coming over.

So, should you go? Yes, you should give it a visit as it will be worth it. As I've mentioned earlier, there are three branches, so choose the one that is near you.
