The movie starts with Bennett killing a librariam for owing some money. Before he was killed, the librarian shared a secret about a rare book that's worth millions. Now, Bennett and his partner embarks on the journey to get the book.
The book tells a series of stories. The first one being about Jenna and her mother trying to work out their troubled relationship. Apparently, Jenna was in some kind of incident that left someone died, and she is currently under treatment and medication, which she no longer takes. Feeling helpless and hopeless, her mother wants to send her to the 'farm' again.
Not one to just agree to the suggestion, Jenna takes off that night, heading to LA. She realises that a creepy guy seems to follow her. Or is it just her anxiety being amplified for not taking her medicines?
She decides to get off at a lonely town after she sees that the creepy guy follows her into the bus. There, she manages to find a BnB to stay. The lovely couple welcomes her and tries to help her solve her problems and tend to her sorrows and wounds.
But it seems that the walls and floors of the house is alive. And soon, she discovers why. The couple has been paralysing their guests and hiding them on the floor and in the walls. Jenna manages to run and hide inside a car, only to be thrown off of a cliff inside it.
The second part tells a story of a grieving mother, Prof. Mary who has just loses her 7 year old son to leukaemia, Miles. When Simon, approaches her and tells her that he is a psychic, sent by Miles to relay messages to her, she immediately runs test and ready to expose his scam. But when Simon aces the tests and all his messages sound really are from Miles, she fells in love with Simon.
Together, they launches a foundation. But Simon no longer wants to be with Mary. He admits that he was scamming Mary and he stages the tests too.
Mary, devastated by the reveal, runs to Miles' old room, where he meets Miles' ghost.
That night, Simon, who is now happy that Mary still wants him, is required to fake a convocation with the dead in front of the investors. This time around, the ghosts write their stories on his body. And boy, did the dead really want to share their stories. And they have a lot!
The last one is about Bennett and his hunt for the book. He arrives at the place. His partner kills himself after his mother's ghost invites him to join her at her happy place. Bennett continues on his own until he arrives at a house. He races to the attic where he meets with Prof Mary, who is now old and gray. She tells him that Simon is the book, and now is the story about Bennett. Bennett runs from the house until he stops at the BnB where Jenna stayed before. He was killed by the wife because he witnesses the husband was putting a body into the ground.
