Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves [Movie Review] | I remembered watching cartoons of Dungeons and Dragons and loved it. And I remembered the cartoons stopped airing after a few episodes (either that or it was not aired in Malaysia anymore at that time) and remembered feeling disappointed.

So, of course I have to watch this one.

• The movie is set in the Forgotten Realm. 
• This is actually the fourth Dungeons and Dragons film and it is also a reboot. (What??? I have to search for the first 3) 
• Originally, Warner Bros. Pictures were to develop the movie but later moved to Paramount Pictures. 

The movie starts with Edgin and Holga being imprisoned for grand larceny. On the day of their pardon hearing, they stage an escape by throwing one of the counsellors out of the window, and the trio fly to safety. 

Edgin was a member of Harpers (some sort of peacekeeper) until his wife was killed by a Red Wizard or Thay, one of the many criminals that he had caught. During the cremation of his wife, he quits Harper and starts drinking. Holga finds him drunk and decides to assist him and his daughter, Kira. The trio turns to a group of thieves, soon Simon, a sorcerer and Forge joins the team. During one of the missions, they were joined by Sofina, Forge's new acquaintance to break in into Harper's stronghold. Edgin steals a resurrection table to resurrect his wife but Sofina steals something else. Edgin and Holga were captured during the break in but the other escape. 

After their escape, they searches for Forge and learns that he is now known as the Lord of Neverwinter and he has becomes Kira's guardian. During the meet, Kira is angry with Edgin because he was imprisoned during the heist, but Forge has twist the story that Edgin was only wanted to be rich. Kira hates him and Holga. Forge instructs his soldiers to send them back to the prison, but in fact he wants the duo to be executed. The duo manages to escape and starts looking to form a team to save Kira and overthrow Forge. They manages to get Simon to join them, who later recommends Doric, a tiefling druid who shape-shifts.

With Doric's ability, they manages to track Forge's vault where he stores the tablet but it was guarded by the highest form of magic. The magic can only be nullified by helmet. With Simon's ability, they questions the dead and buried soldiers of the helmet's whereabout. The soldiers lead them to Xenk, a former Thay who now live a life of an honest man. 

Despite his hatred towards the Thay, Edgin is wiling to work with Xenk to retrieve the helmet. Once they have retrieved the helmet, Xenk part ways with them and the team starts executing their plan to retrieve the tablet and Kira. 

Their plan fails as Forge and Sofina are expecting them. Instead of being executed, Edgin suggests that Forge lets them join the deadly games that he has just re-opened. 

Will the team able to defeat Forge and Sofina, steal the tablet and get Kira back?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.6/ 5.0 The plot is engaging and the twist are thrown along the movie. The actions aplenty and the magic is awesome. Love the CGI too.

An enjoyable movie to watch.
