Sewu Dino [Movie Review] | Yes, babies. I went to the cinema and watched this one with friends on the 2nd day of Hari Raya.

In Jawa Timur in 2003, Sri is a girl who is trying her best to make ends meet, as she is also supporting her ailing father.

When an opportunity knocks in the term of becoming the aid to the successful family of Atmojo to receive 10 million Indonesian Rupiah as salary. Of course she takes the opportunity.

At first not confident that she is eligible for the post, Mbak Karsa tells her that she is perfect for the job as she was born during malam Jumaat Kliwon, not that we know why that is relevant, at this point of the movie. 

When she sees Mbak Karsa under the light and what asked to bathe her battered, bruised, bleeding with blood and puss, she faints. 

Nevertheless, she takes the job as she really need the money to aid her father. She did not want to be as helpless as she was when her little sister was sick. 

Next day, she and another two aids, Dini and Erna, are sent to a little shack in the middle of the forest, not the huge mansion that she attended the interview before.

At the small shack, the trio was told that their only job is to bathe the sickly Della, Mbak Karsa's granddaughter before sunsets for the next 4 days.

Della is sick and believed to have been a victim of black magic known as santet sewu dino (sihir 1000 hari) by Mbak Karsa's enemies for the past 900++ days. She has to be tied to the bed as she will be become very violent if let loose. 

The bathing is known as basuh sedo (basuh mayat). The instruction is left inside a tape that needs to be followed to the T. The bath will calm the devil inside Della. 

The trio work together to get the job done and get through the days. But not without any mysterious/ eerie disturbance throughout the period. 

Sri gets disturbing dreams about the situation but she was not able to understand them at all. 

What happens to Della and how are Sri and the other girls fall into the huge puzzle of the family drama?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.4/ 5.0 The movie starts beautifully, dropping easter eggs along the way. And I stayed throughout the movie to watch it unravels, but some were left unanswered.

I still have questions that are left unanswered until now.

Cast: 4.5/ 5.0 The actors are great in delivering their parts. 

Will I Watch It Again: I probably would, but not in the must watch list.
