The Boogeyman [Movie Review]

The Boogeyman [Movie Review] | I grew up watching movies where boogeyman were the 'ghost' in the dark - that taunts little kids who stay up way past their bedtime. The concept is not lost for me - and I am so looking forward to relive (or not?) my childhood.

Dr. Will Harper, a therapist, lives with his two daughters, Sadie and Sawyer, after his wife died in a car accident.

Going back to school, Sadie feels like everybody is giving her a pity-party, and she hates it. Whereas her father, Dr. Will, despite that he is a therapist, chooses not to talk to her daughters about his feeling, or his kids'. He rather focuses on his patients.

Sawyer sleeps with lights on as she is afraid of the boogeyman in her closet. She tells Sadie about the creature but Sadie just laughs it off.

One day, a man, Lester Billings, walks into his office and despite that he has no appointment, Dr. Will agrees to see him as he look troubled. Lester shares with him about the mysterious deaths of his kids, with no apparent causes except that the children cried 'Boogeyman' before being left alone and seemed afraid of opened doors. Sensing how troubled Lester is, Dr. Will makes a call to a hospital, asking for assistance.

Sadie later finds Lester in her mother's studio, hanged to death.

Still, their father refuses to talk about their feelings. Sadie starts investigating about the death Lester's children and she finds commonalities with her sister's phobia - the boogeyman.

She goes to the Billings' resident and talks to Lester's wife who tells her that the boogeyman kills their children and it feeds on the weak and sad ones, especially grieving persons.

Now, Sadie starts believing in Sawyer's stories about Boogeyman.

When her friends come over to comfort her, they lock her up in her mother's studio to help her face her fear. And there, in the dark, she meets face to face with the boogeyman.

How do one get rid of the boogeyman?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.0/ 5.0 I think the plot was developed ever so slow, and it lacked the horror that I was expecting. The boogeyman was almost have no screen-time.

Cast: 4.6/ 5.0 Everyone delivered beautifully.

Will I Watch It Again: I think I would, but not in the near future.

The pictures are taken from multiple sources on the Internet. Thank you.
