• This is the first in the series to feature John as the main protagonist.

John Kramer is told that he has only months to live due to the advanced brain cancer. He starts planning for the future and attending a cancer support group. There he meets other cancer fighters and cancer survivors, which helps him going through the ordeal. One of the members, Henry tells him about an experimental cancer treatment that cured his terminal cancer. The treatment is led by Dr Pederson. 

With nothing to lose, John contacts Dr Cecilia Pederson, the daughter of the lead doctor who invites him to her clinic in Mexico City. Due to the fact that the treatment is still experimental, Dr Cecilia keeps the clinic location a secret as to hinder from being ambushed and stopped by the authority. She certainly takes very serious precaution steps to ensure that nobody can track her clinic. 

He was met by Diego, a taxi driver, who drives him to the clinic where he meets Dr. Cecilia and her team - Dr. Cortez, Mateo and Valentina. She also meets Gabriela, another cancer survivor that has been cured by the treatment and Parker Sears who just underwent the surgery. 

He undergoes the surgery and later transferred to a nearby hotel to recuperate. Dr Cecilia tells him that he is now cancer-free.

To show his appreciation, John buys a gift for Gabriela and intends to deliver it himself. Upon arriving at the clinic, he finds it abandoned and soon realised that it was an elaborate scam focusing on ailing and dying people in search for hope to recover.

John starts retracing the whole scene - by first kidnapping Diego and interrogating him about the whole set up. Of course he tortures him by wiring explosives into his arms, which he has to cut out from if he wants to live. 

With the assistance of his apprentice, Amanda, both kidnaps the rest of the scam crew and put them into a set up of survival games.

As one by one of the crews failing the survival games, suddenly Parker appears and demands the clinic to refund his money. Later, it turns out that Parker is also a part of the scam and now it is John that is on the survival games.

Will John give in to fate and let the scammers get their ways?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.8/ 5.0 I was grossed out watching this one, and I am not easily feeling queasy while watching movies. 

I love the plot in which John became the victim - or is he?

Cast: 4.8/ 5.0 A great cast that delivers beautiful performance.
