Night Swim [Movie Review] | When I saw James Wan and Jason Blum as the producers, I immediately know that I have to watch this movie. 

I think I do have Thalassophobia (a specific phobia of deep water), but swimming pool is not a deep water body, right?

There's nothing to scare about a clear swimming pool. Right?

The movie starts by showing a girl trying to retrieve a toy boat in their backyard swimming pool in 1992. Somehow she fell into the pool and as she tries to swim to the surface, something pulls her underwater. 

In present day, Ray, Eve and their children, Izzy and Elliot are looking for a permanent house to call home, as Ray is recovering from his illness. They are taken that the house comes with a backyard swimming pool, where Ray can start hdyro-theraphy to help him recover. 

The family starts cleaning the house and the pool. Ray scratches his hand while cleaning the pool. And he can breathe easier when the pool maintenance crew tells him that the pool is self-sustaining, taking its water from an underground spring. 

Ray seems to recovers better after constant hydro-theraphy but Eve realises that his attitude changes too. Both Izzy and Elliot get attacked by something in the pool but their parents tell them not to worry and it is only in their imagination. 

During a pool party, one of the guests share about the fatal drowned case of a girl in the same pool with Eve. Meanwhile, Ray unknowingly forces one of the kids underwater and almost drowns himself. Later, he attributed his act as the side effect of his illness. 

Eve tracks the previous owner of the house, the one that loses her girl in the pool. She meets Kay Fuller, the mother of the girl who tells her that the spring has a healing power. In order to heal, one must sacrifice a life for it to work. Now Eve realises that Ray is healing and the pool is demanding a sacrifice - most probably one of her kids. 

Who will be the next sacrifice?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.0/ 5.0 The plot is predictable - no new plot or new idea here. Was it scary? Yes, a bit. But with James and Jason on board, I was expecting more. 

Cast: 4.5/ 5.0 Everyone delivers. 

Will I Watch It Again: I think I will probably put this one under the label - IF YOU MUST/ WHEN YOU ARE TOO BORED AND NOTHING ELSE IS ON.
