Madame Web [Movie Review]  | I love superhero movies, even though I am not an avid follower/ reader of the character itself. 

When I heard Madame Web is airing, I was like 'Who is this lady? A friend of Spiderman's? Never heard of her before.'

With little expectation, I went to watch the movie.

• The script underwent extensive rewrites that Dakota realised that it no longer resembled the movie that she signed on for. Originally, Madame Web and the girls are supposed to protect the pregnant Mary Parker from Ezekiel, who wants to prevent the birth of Peter Parker.  
• This is the second female-led Marvel superhero movie after The Marvels (2023).

The movie starts in 1973, following Constance Webb's exploration into the jungle of Peru in search of a spider with healing abilities. She is accompanied by Ezekiel, her safety assistant. 

When Constance finally found the spider, Ezekiel betrays her and leaves her for dead. An indigenous tribe, Las Aranas or known as the spider people, attempts to save her using the bite of the spider, but she dies shortly after giving birth a baby girl, Cassandra. 

In 2003, Cassandra also known now as Cassie, is now a paramedic in New York with her friend, Benjamin Parker. During one of the rescue mission, Cassie falls into the river and has a near-death experience. Soon after, she starts seeing events before it starts but she dismisses it as deja vu. 

Meanwhile, Ezekiel also lives in New York and now is looking for three girls who keep on appearing in his dreams, showing him that he will be killed by the girls in a very near future. 

Somehow, Cassie encounters the three girls and realises that a bad man, who turns out to be Ezekiel, is going to kill the girls in a very near future. She determines to stop the event from happening but she doesn't know how and what is happening with her. 

What will she learn about her destiny and how will she save the girls?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.0/ 5.0 No new formula in this one. A woman learns about her power to save the world and she uses it. 

I will regard this one as a character building movie for the whole team. The movie has lots of scripts - so be prepared to hear lines after lines. And the scripts could have been better written too. 

Was it a good movie? Not so.

Was it fun? Yes, at some points.

It is a must watch? No, but an OK movie to kill time. 

Cast: 3.6/ 5.0 Call me stereotyping but the movie could have been better with different cast. 

Will I Watch It Again: No, probably not as this one is pretty forgettable, in my opinion.
