Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire [Movie Review] | Hey all. Do you realised that the latest film in the MonsterVerse has already dropped - Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire in the cinemas?

Of course I have to watch it! Read so many mix reviews of the movie. I'll rate it myself.

• This is a sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), and the fifth film in the MonsterVerse franchise. It is also the 38th film of the Godzilla franchise and the 13th film in the King Kong franchise. 
• The release in 2024 marks the 10 years after Godzilla was release in 2014 and is 70th anniversary of the overall franchise. 
• Shimo as referred to as The First Titan - meaning she is muchhhh older than the existing Titan. 

A few years after the last incident, Kong is now making himself comfortable in Hollow Earth whereas Godzilla continues guarding on the surface and resides in the Colosseum as his new crib.

When an unidentified signal was detected by the Monarch team in the Hollow Earth, Jia also has several dreams about it. She fears that something bad is happening soon and tells her worries to her adoptive mum, Dr Ilene. 

When Godzilla attacks a nuclear plant in France and absorbs its radiation, the human believes that Godzilla is strengthening himself to face the coming threat. Godzilla then proceeds to Arctic and attacks Tiamat, another Titan that resides there. He then absorbs the radiation from Tiamat's lair, making his spine changes color to magenta. 

Meanwhile, Kong discovers an uncharted region when he goes down a sinkhole. There he finds another tribe of his species living there. There was confrontation at first but he manages to subdued all the threats. He then forces one of the juvenile to take him to their lair. The tribe's leader, known as Skar King in the Iwi's mythology, battles Kong with Shimo, the ice-powered Titan that Skar King has captive and in control with pain. Kong is badly injured by Shimo's ice but manages to escape.

Dr. Ilene and Jia, alongside Trapper, a Titan veterinarian and Bernie, a podcaster, travel to the Hollow Earth to locate the signal's source. Exploring the Hollow Earth, the team discover an Iwi's temple that leads them to the surviving Iwi tribe there. They communicate telepathically among each other and it seems that the signal was sent by them. At the temple, the team learns the history of Kong, Godzilla and Skar King. And it is also shown there that Jia might have the power to reawaken Mothra, the mother of all Titans. 

Due to their bond, Kong manages to find Jia during his escape. Trapper fit his badly injured arm with an armored glove that strengthens his arm while treating his injury.

Realises that he cannot win alone while fighting Skar King and Shimo, Kong surfaces and calls for Godzilla. Godzilla comes running to battle Kong but was stopped by Mothra who convinces Godzilla to aid Kong. 

The trio returns to the Hollow Earth and battles for their lives there. The fight continues to the surface Earth and Shimo once again blows his ice breath to the world, inducing another ice age. 

With double the power, can Kong and Godzilla subdue the threatening duo from claiming the world to themselves?

MY REVIEW

Plot: 4.7/ 5.0 Well, I don't see what's the fuss is all about. I think the bad reviews were because people read and expect too much when watching a movie.

I love this one - it gives you full backstories of all the main characters so that we know how these Titans are connected. And why human plays a crucial factor in that equation.

Oh ya. This one has no post-credit. 

Cast: 4.7/ 5.0 Beautiful cast. 

Will I Watch It Again: Yes, and this time around, let's watch it in 3D.
