Sehidup Semati [Movie Review] | Whe everyone is not in town, what should you do to kill time?

Me? Watch horror movies! So, I watched the trailer and I liked the premise. So, here goes.

Renata is a kind-hearted woman who grew up believing that a wife's duty is to serve her husband and should always fight to keep her marriage stable. Her parents thought her that and she stands by those words.  

She marries Edwin, who vows to will never leave her side no matter what. 

Even though she believes that Edwin is having an affair, she still stands by her man. Edwin rarely touches her intimately and now hits her. But she still fights to keep her marriage intact. She is not allowed to get out of the house whenever Edwin leaves for work and she follows her husband's directive. 

She comes across Asmara, a bold and daring new neighbour when she goes out to the laundrette. Eventually, she befriends Asmara and soon, starts to confide in her about her marriage problems. 

Asmara tells her to stand her ground and never let man, not even her husband, to belittle her anymore. 

Soon, she believes that Edwin is involved with Ana, a woman who had been reported missing. This revelation plunged Renata into a nightmare, as she became haunted by Ana's presence. Edwin's behavior grew colder and more distant, adding to Renata's torment.

Despite the eerie occurrences and the chilling realization of Ana's identity, Renata's resolve never wavered. Her sole focus remained on saving her family and restoring the integrity of her household.

How long can she hold onto her marriage before it crumbles down and falls on her?

MY REVIEW

What I Like: 

• The cast are strong with their delivery. 
• I keep on guessing the twist and the ending - is she paranoid? is she having a multiple personality disorder? is she imagining all of those things? 
• It touches the issue of domestic violence that Asians find taboo and should not be discussed with others, let alone seeks help.  Your mental health matters people. 

What I Don't Like:

• There are cut scenes (well, expected la) that kinda distorted the continuity in the scenes.
• What is the conclusion? Is she having a multiple personality disorder? I still have no answer until now.

Will I Watch It Again: No, but the movie is great. 

Overall: 4.7/ 5.0
