The 45-megapixel back-illuminated (BSI) stacked CMOS sensor and Accelerated Capture image processor system are the two main components of the EOS R5 Mark II. In addition to guaranteeing unmatched image quality, this combination creates new opportunities for rapid data processing and sophisticated autofocus capabilities. I am sure that the Dual Pixel Intelligent AF system has got photographers and videographers alike as this system is a game-changer, offering incredibly accurate subject tracking and recognition, making it a standout feature for those in the field.

The new Accelerated Capture System, consisting of the all-new DIGIC Accelerator and the DIGIC X image processor, can process high volumes of data at unprecedented speeds. Together, the two pave the way for powerful new features and enable resource-intensive processing that sets new standards for AF performance.

With the Register People Priority function, which keeps a preregistered person in focus even in a crowd or when their face is turned sideways would be very helpful whenever you are working an event, a concert or a wedding. And the new Action Priority AF mode is perfect for sports photographers, automatically shifting focus to capture fast-moving subjects during dynamic sports like soccer, basketball, and volleyball.

Video Capabilities

The camera's ability to record in up to 8K 60p RAW, which gives them the utmost flexibility and creative freedom, will excite videographers. I know that the professional filmmaker will be most excited about the Cinema EOS capabilities to take 4K DCI 60p SRAW recording and simultaneous proxy video file recording. Plus the 10-bit Canon Log 2 offers significant enhanced dynamic range and more flexibility in post-production.

If you are anything like me, you'll love this feature as it allows you to focus just by looking at your subject. Combined with an enhanced recognition system, the feature makes shooting in fast-paced situations much smoother. The in-camera noise reduction and image upscaling features of the EOS R5 Mark II demonstrate Canon's commitment to workflow efficiency and image quality. The in-camera Upscaling feature boosts resolution up to 179 megapixels, enabling remarkably detailed crops, while the Neural Network Noise Reduction efficiently reduces noise in high-ISO RAW photographs.
