Can I trust the suggestions made by the group after watching this one?

• For inspiration, the filmmakers explored several haunted house attractions in Kentucky.

• The interiors of the haunted house attraction were all built inside a dairy factory.

Harper and Bailey go to a party on a chilly Halloween night, hoping to meet up with their friends Angela and Mallory. They meet Nathan and Evan at a neighbourhood pub and instantly build a bond. As the evening progresses, Harper can't shake the uneasy feeling that she is being watched, heightened by the presence of a man wearing a devil mask.

Still feeling festive, the group visits a haunted house attraction, where they are greeted by a man wearing a clown mask. The clown insists they lock their cell phones and sign liability agreements before providing them the key to ensure their possessions are safe. Inside, they are confronted with a terrible scene: a masked figure scorching a screaming girl's face with a hot poker, which they immediately dismiss as part of the act.

As they moves deeper into the house, they get separated in a maze. Bailey, Nathan, and Angela play a macabre game of 'Guess the body part', where Bailey sustains a deep cut from a straight razor and lose Harper's mother's ring in the process. Meanwhile, Harper and Evan lose track of Mallory in a crawl tunnel led by the house's employee wearing a devil mask.

Then the real panic sets in when they see a performer wearing a witch mask fatally impale Mallory. They try to flee, but their efforts are foiled by Mitch, a man in a ghost mask who turns on them, killing Evan and trapping Nathan in a tunnel.

Harper finds herself in an escape room that reflects her horrible past, where she meets and kills the man in the devil mask, only to discover, horrified, that she has killed Bailey, who was previously captured. Sam, Harper's abusive boyfriend, arrives at the house but dies at the hands of the clown-masked ringleader.

Nathan and Harper fight their way through the home, defeating Mitch and a man in a vampire mask who discloses the performers' cult-like fascination with facial modification and mutilation of their victims. They escape, with Nathan killing the man in the zombie mask who is pursuing them.

But, are they truly safe now?

MY REVIEW

What I Like: 

• I love how they link the movie with the psychological trauma that Harper is going through.
• The make up effect and the gory scenes are super real.

What I Don't Like:

• No comment whatsoever. Why did I not watch this one until now?

Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I would.
