The Crow [Movie Review]

The Crow [Movie Review] | I remember growing up reading about the shocking death involving the main cast of the 1993's The Crow. I have to admit, I haven't watch the original one, so when this one airs, perhaps I can give it a go.

Thanks to Xavier Naxa for choosing me as one of the winners for the premiere screening of The Crow at GSC The Starling. You wanna win free premiere screening tickets too? Go and stalk him on X.

Shelly and her friends are running from Roeg, a dangerous crime lord. One of her close friends were killed in order to get their hands on a video that exposes Roeg's criminal activities. Ir order to survive, Shelly willingly gets taken by the police on the account of possession and is sent to an institution for troubled youth. There, she meets Eric.

Eric's childhood was marked by tragedy, including the death of his cherished horse and a strained relationship with his alcoholic mother. These early hardships set the stage for a life filled with struggle.

Despite their difficult circumstances, Eric and Shelly quickly form a deep connection, becoming soulmates. When Marian, Roeg’s ruthless enforcer, comes to the institution searching for Shelly, the two flee together, determined to escape Roeg's clutches.

Their bond deepens through their shared love of music, bringing them solace in a world filled with danger. However, their brief happiness is shattered when Roeg's men track them down and brutally murder them both. In the afterlife, Eric awakens in a mysterious warehouse surrounded by crows. Here, he meets Kronos, a spirit guide who offers him a chance to reunite with Shelly. To do so, Eric must kill Roeg and his men.

Revived with the help of a crow, Eric embarks on a relentless quest for revenge, systematically hunting down Roeg’s henchmen. But as he nears his goal, he discovers that Roeg has taken control of Shelly’s mind, forcing her to commit a murder. This revelation devastates Eric, and Kronos informs him that his doubt in Shelly means they can never be together in life again.

Despite this heartbreaking news, Eric's love for Shelly remains unwavering. He pleads with Kronos to allow him to take Shelly’s place in Hell if he completes his mission. With this resolve, Eric confronts Roeg in a final showdown at the opera, eliminating the last of Roeg's men and the crime lord himself.

Can the lovers reunite at the end?
