Speak No Evil [Movie Review]

Speak No Evil [Movie Review] | With James McAvoy starring as the villain, it is a movie that I have to watch. His performance in Split and Glass are award-worthy and I consider him as one of the best actors around.

While vacationing in Italy, American couple Louise and Ben Dalton, along with their daughter Agnes, meet British couple Paddy and Ciara, and their son Ant. The Daltons find the British couple funny and accommodating and promises to get together when time allows.

Back in London, Louise and Ben’s marriage is strained due to Ben’s unemployment and Louise's infidelity. When they receive an invitation from Paddy and Ciara to visit their remote farmhouse, both view the invitation as an alternative to ease their relationship tensions and help Agnes, who suffers from anxiety and clings to her stuffed rabbit.

At the farmhouse, the Daltons are initially welcomed but soon become unsettled by odd occurrences and the hosts' passive-aggressive behavior.

Louise is particularly disturbed by how Paddy and Ciara treat Ant, who was born with a condition that impairs his speech. One night, while the adults dine out, Ant shows Agnes a mysterious collection of watches and a foreign message.

Later, Louise is horrified to find Agnes sharing a bed with a drunken Paddy and Ciara, prompting the family to flee, but have to return because Agnes forgot her rabbit. Paddy and Ciara apologize, subtly accusing the Daltons of judgment. The family stays but grows increasingly uneasy.

After witnessing Paddy throw a mug at Ant, Agnes follows Ant to a locked shed where they discover luggage and belongings from past victims. Ant reveals that Paddy and Ciara are killers who have been murdering families and cutting out children’s tongues, forcing them to lure new victims. Ant himself is one of their victims.

Agnes informs her parents, and they attempt a calm escape. Paddy and Ciara, realizing they've been exposed, sabotage the Daltons' car.

Can the Daltons escape the 'welcoming' family?
