Ellie left home after a fight with her mother and is staying with a friend when her 8-year-old stepsister, Anna, goes missing near Caddo Lake. Ellie knows that her father is not dead, but her mother thinks that her father left them for another. With Anna's missing, Ellie is desperate to find her and searches the lake's dried-up areas, where she experiences something unexplainable: she slips three days into the past. Realizing that time shifts around the lake, Ellie goes back further to search for Anna—only to land a month before, just as Anna had once run off.

Meanwhile, Paris, working on the lake, is haunted by his mother’s mysterious death when she drove their car off a bridge. He is convinced that his mother's sickness was misdisgnosed and determined to get to the bottom of it. While working at the dam,  e dredges up a necklace from the lake’s muddy bottom—the very necklace his mother once wore. Disturbed but determined to understand the lake’s mysteries, Paris begins to sense he’s stumbling into something beyond his reality.

Somehow, both Ellie and Paris stumble upon the very area in the lake that either brings them forward or backward in time. Their lives intersect through the lake’s portals.

Paris finds himself in 1952, rescuing a young girl who turns out to be Anna. When he tries to return to his time, he overshoots, landing in 2022—Ellie’s present. At the same time, Ellie travels to 2005, where she realizes Anna is not just her stepsister but actually her grandmother.

Back in 2022, Paris is wrongfully arrested for Anna’s disappearance. In order to return to his time, he jumps from the dam and at the exact same time, the dam burts and drowns him.

Ellie manages to return to her mother and piecing together the truth.

Which one is the truth?
