The Buckingham Murders [Movie Review]

The Buckingham Murders [Movie Review] | I was in the mood of a foreign movie (where I need to read the captions to understand the story), so I decided upon this one as Ms Kareena is the heroine.

Detective Jasmeet or Det. Jass for short, a once unbreakable British-Indian investigator, is now grieving a loss when a drug-addicted shooter took her child from her. Seeking solace—or at least distraction—she transferred to Buckinghamshire, hoping the quiet countryside might dull the ache.

But Buckinghamshire had its own darkness waiting. On her first assignment, Jass was handed a case by Miller: the disappearance of Ishpreet Sethi, a young Indian boy. Working under her superior, DI Hardik Patel, Jass met the boy’s distraught adoptive parents, Daljeet and Preeti Sethi. However, unease lingered. Patel’s strained interactions with the family hinted at history—specifically with Prithvi, Daljeet’s shady relative and a former drug dealer.

The investigation gained momentum when CCTV footage pinpointed Ishpreet’s last-known location: a park. The team combed through the area overnight, but dawn broke with exhaustion and dread. DI Hardik pushed further with only Simon by his side. Their grim discovery came soon after—Ishpreet’s lifeless body abandoned in an abandoned car by the park.

The car’s owner led them to Saquib, a troubled young man whose past intertwined with drugs—and with Patel. Evidence painted Saquib as the killer, especially after Naved, the Imam’s son, implicated him. But Jass’s gut whispered otherwise. As Saquib was hauled off in handcuffs, her doubt ignited a heated argument with DI Hardik, who cruelly taunted her about her son’s death. Fury flared, and she struck him. She was benched, stripped of her lead role in the case.

But Jass refused to give up. Digging deeper, she discovered a painful truth: Patel’s sister lay comatose, another victim of drugs linked to Saquib. Desperate for answers, Jass visited Saquib in prison, where he revealed he hadn’t killed Ishpreet. He has a secret himself and DI Hardik twisted Naved's hands to get the confession from Naved.

Jass confronted Naved, breaking his silence. DI Hardik’s betrayal unraveled, but the revelation pushed him over the edge, ending with he turn the gun to himself. Meanwhile, Jass turned her sights to Daljeet, now the prime suspect. His failing business and secret affair with Indrani added to the mounting suspicion, and his abusive nature unraveled further. But as Jass closed in, the truth twisted in ways she couldn’t have imagined, drawing her deeper into a web of manipulation and revenge.

Is her grief clouding her judgement? Will she get to the bottom of the murders?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:

  • Kareena plays her part beautifully, and I cried with her.
  • WOW! Some scenes are 18SX, so be mindful when watching with your kids. Bollywood movies has certainly levelled up.

What I Don't Like:

  • Too fast a pace to include and solve so many murders in one movie, although it is a Bollywood movie.

Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I would.

Overall: 4.6/ 5.0

The pictures are taken from multiple sources on the Internet. Thank you.
