In 2003, Summer Field, a famous high school senior, reluctantly attends her school's Spring Fling, carrying a heavy heart after her friends Emmy, Brian, and Val were murdered by a serial killer known as The Sweetly Slasher. While her friend Quinn tries to hand her an envelope, Summer brushes him off, similarly ignoring her recent ex, Ethan, who asks her to dance. Soon after, chaos erupts as police shut down the party. While Summer hides in a back bathroom, a masked figure lunges at her, forcing her to flee toward a barn. He catches her, and her life ends tragically.
Twenty years later, Lucy Field, a quiet high school student and amateur inventor, feels overshadowed by her town's fixation on Summer's murder - her older sister. While visiting a makeshift shrine for the victims, Lucy notices a flash of light from a nearby barn. She stumbles upon a time machine that transports her back to 2003—two days before her sister’s murder. Overwhelmed by how lively the town still is, she seeks out her science teacher, Mr. Fleming, for guidance, but Quinn overhears her questions about time travel and warns her against meddling with the past.
Despite the warning, Lucy gets pulled into a school prank involving Ethan and Quinn, revealing that she knows Summer. Surprised, Quinn learns about her time travel and agrees to help her refuel the time machine. Spending time with her sister, Lucy realizes the life Summer had with their relaxed parents and a joyful household - totally different than what she has.
When the killer hunts down Brian and Val at the mall, Lucy arrives just in time to warn Val, but too late to save Brian. However, the killer still manages to grab Val and kill her. The next victim being the security guard who arrives to assist the screaming girls.
Lucy shares about Summer being killed and questions whether she should stop the killing. If she does, Summer will survive and she might not exist in the future. Quinn disagrees and storms off.
Should Lucy save Summer so that Summer could live her future or should Lucy save her own future?
MY REVIEW
What I Like:
- I love a strong and bad-ass girl figure.
What I Don't Like:
- The script is a bit weak, I feel like watching Hannah Montana acting as a grown-up and be a kick-ass figure. A bit amateur.
Will I Watch It Again: No, once is enough.
Overall: 3.7/ 5.0
