Jangan Pandang Belakang 2: Aku Tahu Asal Usulmu [Movie Review] | I remembered being scared while watching Jangan Pandang Belakang, 17 years ago. That famous line by Opah in the movie 'Sapa kawan kamu tu? Kenapa buruk beno rupanya?' or somewhere along that line, always stay in my mind. 

So, naturally when Jangan Pandang Belakang 2: Aku Tahu Asal Usulmu is released, I made a point to watch it. 

Is the sequel as good as the first one?

Opah is dead. Dharma is gone without a trace. Mak Lang is now left alone with Lynn. As Opah is dead, the saka is now looking for its new master. Naturally, Mak Lang is the go-to option. 

Years after, Lynn is now a lawyer in a big city. After a successful court session, she finds a single rose on her vehicle's windscreen. Thinking that someone is congratulating her on her success, she takes the flower home. 

Apparently, by taking home the flower, she allows a bad spirit to also enter her house and a series of disturbance occurs. That same night, she has to return to her hometown as Mak Long's health is deteriorating.

Mak Lang is now old, has several other health issues, along with dementia. She is now at the old folk's home where Dr. Azim is working. It seems that Azim and Lynn has had a history together. 

Not wanting to leave her mother at the home, Lynn wants to bring Mak Lang to the big city, but somehow, she is not able to. As if to stop her from leaving the place, weird occurrences and obstacles keep coming up.

Her friend, Hafiz and his father, Tok Imam, comes to aid. 

Will Lynn manage to get rid of the saka, for good?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• The movie is actually able to stand alone, without one having to watch the first one to understand the plot.
• I kinda dig the CGI used in the movie. 

What I Don't Like:

• The script - not that strong.
• Not that scary. 

Will I Watch It Again: No, once is enough.  

Overall: 3.7/ 5.0
