Lucky Bashkar [Movie Review] | It has been quite some time since I last watched Bollywood movies. I accidentally came across this one while looking for a fun movie to watch.

Bashkar is an honest man, employee, son and husband. He is married to Sumathi, his college lover who is from a rich and well-know family. Growing up with little to spare, Sumathi's family look down upon him and his family - up to a point that his son is being given just a small slice of birthday cake just because he is poor, thus assumed that he rarely eats good food in large portion.

He was looking forward to a rumoured promotion as he has been the best employee three years in a row at the bank he is currently working. He needs money to pay debts and to support his father, sister and brother. In order to make ends meet, he opens a side business, assisting bank customers to fill in forms and check required supporting documents. 

When he didn't get the promotion, his heart breaks. Dismayed with the result, Baskar sees a chance to escape his struggles when a loophole in the banking system catches his eye. What starts as a quick-fix scheme to pocket some extra cash soon spirals into something far more complex. With each move, he becomes entangled in the dark underbelly of stock market manipulation and money laundering. Desperation gives way to calculated ambition, and Baskar’s life shifts dramatically as he ascends from humble beginnings to unthinkable wealth.  

But as his fortunes rise, so does his ego and manner. The man who once sought a simple escape from his burdens transforms into someone consumed by greed and power. He becomes rude and arrogant towards everyone, his wife included. 

Yet, amidst this transformation, Sumathi remains steadfast and becomes his moral anchor. Her unwavering integrity and piercing questions about his choices force Baskar to pause and reflect, even as he barrels forward into murkier waters.

However, as he has tasted the honey, he longs for more. With every decision, the stakes grow higher, and the consequences of his actions loom ever larger, waiting to unfold. 

Can he escape with no consequence?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• I LOVE! Very clever storytelling and unexpected twists throughout the movie.
• Great cast and great acting.

What I Don't Like:

• None.

Will I Watch It Again: Yes, I would.
