Dreamcatcher [Movie Review]

Dreamcatcher [Movie Review] | This movie came highly recommended by the FB group, especially since it’s based on a Stephen King novel.

But let’s be honest—King adaptations are hit or miss. Will this one break the curse or fall into the same trap?

Dreamcatcher, Horror, Thriller, Rawlins GLAM, Rawlins Lifestyle, Movie Review by Rawlins

Every year, four childhood friends, Jonesy, Beaver, Pete, and Henry, escape to the Maine woods for their annual hunting trip. They share a secret: a strange telepathic bond, 'the line', a gift from a boy with disabilities named Duddits whom they once saved from bullies when they were younger.

This year, things take a dark turn. Months earlier, Jonesy survived a brutal accident, healing faster than doctors thought possible. Now, back in the woods, he stumbles upon a lost hunter, Rick, who is sick and lost in the snowy woods. That night, the animals flee in a blind stampede. Military helicopters loom overhead, announcing a sudden quarantine and their little cabin is within the quarantine area.

Inside the cabin, horror unfolds. Rick dies, leaving behind something monstrous that came out of his body: a writhing, screaming wormlike creature. Beaver fights to contain it, but the thing is too strong and kills Beaver. Before Jonesy can escape, he comes face-to-face with something worse: a towering alien who calls itself Mr. Gray. When Mr. Gray explodes in front of him into a bloody red mist, Jonesy is no longer in control of his own body. Mr. Gray is in control.

Meanwhile, Henry and Pete crash their SUV to avoid a frostbitten woman. Pete stays behind, only to witness her dies before a similar creature comes out of her. The creature attacks him and he barely survives. Mr. Gray finds him first.

As the military moves in, led by the ruthless Colonel Curtis, the forest turns into a war zone. The aliens plead for mercy. Blood rains down as the airstrike wipes them out, leaving nothing but fire and wreckage.

Jonesy, trapped in his own mind, watches as Mr. Gray uses him for something bigger. Jonesy now becomes a person with split personality - himself and Mr. Gray. Pete pays the price for resisting. Henry, realizing the danger, turns to the only person who can help. He finds Duddits, now frail and dying.

The final confrontation leads to the Quabbin Reservoir. If Mr. Gray succeeds in infecting the water resource with its larvae, the world will never be the same. But as the battle unfolds, the dreamcatcher appears.

Will Mr. Gray succeed in his plan to take over the world?
