Kinda Pregnant [Movie Review] | The movie comes up when I was not feeling well, resting at home.  I just need a funny movie to cheer myself up, so here goes.

• When Dave questions Lainy about her pregnancy, he recalls spending Thanksgiving in Vermont. Coincidentally, Damon Wayans Jr. was born there.

As kids, Lainy and her best friend Kate play pretend, acting out childbirth. Years later, they’re both teachers at the same school. Kate is married and expecting, while Lainy, hoping for a proposal from her boyfriend Dave, is blindsided when he instead suggests a threesome. Devastated, she loses control, burning students' books and setting off the fire alarm the next day.

Lainy soon learns about Kate’s pregnancy, followed by another teacher, Shirley, announcing hers. Feeling left out, she impulsively tries on a fake pregnancy belly while shopping with Kate and loves the attention. She keeps up the act, even joining a prenatal yoga class, where she befriends a pregnant woman, Megan.

Megan invites Lainy for dinner, where she meets Megan’s husband Steve and her charming brother Josh. When her fake belly catches fire, she manages to cover it up, and Megan, unaware of the ruse, tells Lainy she’s been a source of strength. Encouraged, Lainy continues her deception.

Her coworker Fallon figures out the truth and warns her, but Lainy won’t stop. At a baby store, Megan’s young son almost exposes her, forcing her to hide from Megan and Steve. Meanwhile, Josh asks her out, leading to an ice-skating date and a romantic yacht dinner—where they run into Dave. Panicking, Lainy lies, saying she got pregnant during a Black Friday sale.

Megan invites Lainy to a pregnancy therapy class, where Lainy fakes her belly with a helium balloon. Later, when babysitting for Megan, Lainy and Josh share a passionate moment, but she keeps her fake pregnancy a secret. Josh, believing in their future, confesses his feelings. Overcome with guilt, she abruptly leaves.

Lainy confesses her “pregnancy” dilemma to Fallon, and word spreads. At Kate’s baby shower, Megan and Josh arrive, having been tipped off. 

What will happen when the belly pops?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• I love the simple storyline, but I bet lots of us went through similar experience in our lives. Trying to live up to everyone' expectation? Pretending somebody we are not? 
• Funny!

What I Don't Like:

• None as I take it as it is - a comedy!

Will I Watch It Again: Yes.
