The Gorge [Movie Review] | I've watched the trailers and intrigued about it. When it drops, I immediately watched it. 

It's Anya on-screen, why should I not watch it, right?

• Filming is underway in Teesdale, County Durham, including Low Force, a location used in 1917, during May 2023. 
• Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy both starred in Fox/Marvel films. Miles as Mr. Fantastic in Fantastic Four (2015) and Anya as Magik in The New Mutants (2020).
• In the Christmas montage, they play chess (a nod to Taylor-Joy’s Queen’s Gambit) and drums (a nod to Teller’s Whiplash). Though scripted before their casting, both wanted it removed, but director Scott Derrickson refused.

Two elite snipers take on the same mission—guarding opposite sides of a hidden gorge for a year, no contact, no escape. Levi Kane, a former Marine Scout Sniper, mans the west tower. Drasa, a Lithuanian covert operative, holds the east. Both carry their own ghosts—Levi, guilt over his kills; Drasa, a father planning suicide to reunite with his late wife.  

Levi relieves his predecessor, J.D., a British sniper who warns him: automated turrets, cloaking tech and a deadly secret called 'Stray Dog'. The gorge isn't just hidden, it is actually a graveyard. Three battalions vanished here in the 1940s. And there are creatures trapped in the gorge, known as 'The Hollow Men'. J.D. leaves, but before his helicopter disappears, his own contact executes him.  

Weeks pass. On her birthday, Drasa breaks protocol, communicating with Levi through written signs. Soon, they’re playing chess, drumming on ammo cans, and competing in sharpshooting duels. A Hollow Men escape attempt forces them to fight side by side. Both breaks protocol of not communicating.  

Six months in, Levi ziplines to Drasa’s tower. They dance, cook rabbit pie and Levi, a poet at heart, writes for her a poem called 'She Collapsed the Night'. The next morning, as he returns to his tower, an explosion sends him plummeting into the gorge. He parachutes down. Drasa quickly grabs items and jumps into the gorge, her bid to safe Levi.  

Inside, they uncover the source of the horror. The gorge shelters an abandoned WWII bioweapons lab where every living thing has mutated. The 'Stray Dog' protocol is actually a failsafe: a nuclear sterilization. Darklake, a private defense company, now controls it, harvesting mutations for super-soldiers. And this company employs Levi. 

Fighting through the Hollow Men, Levi and Drasa climb out of the gorge, split up to ensure they aren't infected and contact their handlers. Now wanting to let the secret out, Darklake is coming to the towers to erase them both. A drone strike hunts them, but they fight back, executing perfect simultaneous shots to expose the gorge and trigger the nuke. 

Did they managed to escape the gorge and pursue their dreams together?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• Love the storyline. 
• Great cast!
• The Hollow Men looks like the zombies from The Pirates of the Carribean. 

What I Don't Like:

• The end seems a bit rushed. If the action part was longer, I bet the movie gets even more exciting.

Will I Watch It Again: Yes.
