- A reimagining of the 1941 film "The Wolf Man".
- Christopher Abbott found chewing his prosthetic limbs surprisingly tolerable. “The blood was sugary, and I swear the bone was white chocolate,” he told Mama’s Geeky. “Gross, but kinda delicious.”.
- The film's moving truck, from the fictional company Pierce, nods to legendary Universal monster artist Jack Pierce. Its "Since 1941" tagline honors the release year of The Wolf Man.
- Blake’s fading grasp of language was portrayed by layering his dialogue with reversed audio for a distorted effect.

In 1995, young Blake Lovell and his stern father, Grady, encounter a shadowy creature deep in the Oregon wilderness. They hide in a hunting blind, terrified, as it lurks below. Grady is determined to investigate the creature.
Thirty years later, Blake is a father himself, living in San Francisco with his daughter Ginger and his overworked wife, Charlotte. Like Grady, he wrestles with his temper, straining their marriage. When he receives a death certificate for his long-missing father, along with the keys to his childhood home, he sees it as a chance to reconnect with his family. He hopes that seeing the nature he grew up with would strengthen his family relationships.

Their trip takes a deadly turn when a monstrous figure forces their car off the road, killing a helpful local, Derek, and slashing Blake’s arm. Bleeding and panicked, he barricades his family inside the old house. But something is happening to him as he turns feverish and his teeth falling out. And his body is changing as his senses sharpen and laws emerge. He couldn't understand a word that his family utters. And so are Charlotte and Ginger.
Charlotte watches in horror as Blake deteriorates, gnawing at his own infected arm. When a run-down truck offers hope for escape, the creature attacks again, forcing them onto the roof of a greenhouse. Desperate, Blake distracts the beast so Charlotte and Ginger can flee.
But when he returns unrecognizable and deformed, Charlotte knows the truth. The monster he fought was his father. And now, Blake is becoming the same thing.
He stumbles outside, fully transformed. Overcome by instinct, he turns on his own family, chasing them into a barn. A bear trap slows him, but he gnaws off his foot to keep going.
Did the family made the right choice to reconcile their relationships in the wild?

MY REVIEW
What I Like:
- You know what, it is not the werewolf origin story - to my relief. Totally unrelated.
What I Don't Like:
- Why does all horror movies have to be so dark? It was next to impossible to watch the cast moves.
Will I Watch It Again: I would
Overall: 4.0/ 5.0
