Is it as good as it promises?

- Despite Nate’s inability to feel pain, directors Dan Berk and Robert Olsen ensured the film stayed grounded. “He’s not a superhero,” Berk explains. While they took some liberties, they kept the action semi-believable by adjusting stunts—shifting head blows to body hits to avoid turning Nate’s face into mashed potatoes halfway through the movie.
- Paramount picked up the rights and set the release for March 14, 2025.
- The plot is similar to the 2018 Indian film Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota (The Man Who Feels No Pain).

Nathan Caine lives a quiet, uneventful life as an assistant manager at a credit union in San Diego. Born with congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis (CIPA), he can't feel pain, which makes him cautious about relationships and the world around him. His co-worker, Sherry Margrave, has a crush on him, but Nathan hesitates as he’s inexperienced with women and worried about his condition. One night at a bar, they run into Nathan’s childhood bully, who mockingly calls him Novocaine. Sherry gets some playful revenge by tricking the guy into drinking a shot of hot sauce. That night, she and Nathan spent the night together, and for once, life seemed good.
The following day, Christmas Eve takes a dark turn when a gang dressed as Santas robs the credit union, kidnapping Sherry in the process. Nathan, acting on impulse, steals a police car to chase them down. He ends up following the wrong vehicle. His pursuit eventually leads him to a restaurant, where he faces off against one of the robbers, Ben Clark. After a brutal struggle, Nathan kills Ben but badly burns his hand in the process.

Determined to find Sherry, Nathan tracks down a tattoo artist who knew Ben and, after a brawl, gets a lead on his home address. Enlisting help from his only friend, Roscoe Dixon, a gamer he’s never met in person, Nathan heads to Ben’s house, which turns out to be heavily booby-trapped. Ben’s brother Andre finds him and tortures him, but Nathan fakes pain to buy time. Roscoe shows up, and together, they take down Andre. However, when the cops arrive, Roscoe is arrested after switching clothes with Nathan.
Nathan finally locates Sherry and Simon, the heist leader, at an auto shop, only to discover that Sherry was in on the robbery. She was supposed to seduce him for the vault code but genuinely fell for him. Simon, furious, tries to kill Nathan but is shot by an arriving officer. The chaos continues as Nathan fights for survival, ultimately defeating Simon in a brutal showdown.
What will happen to Simon and his feelings towards Sherry?
