Chicago therapist Violet Gates is slowly stepping back into the dating world after the tragic suicide of her abusive husband, Blake. Leaving her young son Toby in the care of her sister Jen, she heads to a chic high-rise restaurant called Palate to meet Henry Campbell, a charming photographer she connected with through a dating app. They have been exchanging messages for quite some time, and after heavy encouragement by Jen, Violet agrees to meet up with Henry.

As she waits, Violet exchanges small talk with the restaurant staff and other diners, but things take a turn when she begins receiving strange, anonymous messages that are known as Digi-Drops. At first, it was just some quirky memes. In no time, it escalates to ominous threats. When Henry finally arrives, Violet tries to focus on the date, but the drops keep coming. Henry, concerned, helps her figure out who might be behind them, guessing it could be someone nearby.

Then, everything spirals. Violet is ordered to check her home’s security cameras where she sees a masked intruder assaulting Jen and locking Toby in his room. The message is clear: follow instructions, or Toby dies. Violet realizes the restaurant is under surveillance and her every move is being watched.

She’s coerced into destroying evidence from Henry’s camera, which contains damning photos tied to a corruption case involving the mayor ie Henry’s employer. As tensions rise, Violet is pushed further and much sinister. She’s instructed to poison Henry.

Trying to buy time, Violet slips a note to the pianist Phil, who attempts to leave and dies. The pressure mounts.

Soon, she learns that Richard, another diner whom she met earlier, is behind everything. He’s been watching her the entire night and reveals he’s there to eliminate Henry before he can testify against the mayor, while framing Violet for the murder.

Will Violet let Richard manipulate her into killing Henry or will she take charge now?
