In the Lost Lands [Movie Review]

In the Lost Lands [Movie Review] | I have come to love Milla after I watched the Fifth Element. And it seems after that, I only love her acting in the sci-fi movies. Not so much in other genres. 

How is she fairing in this one?

• George R.R. Martin wrote In the Lost Lands as the start of a series about Gray Alys, but never continued it. If the film does well, he’s planning to write a new story for a sequel. 
• The first movie where digital characters outnumber real, flesh-and-blood actors.
• The movie was stuck in development limbo for years, and at one point, both Keanu Reeves and Nicolas Cage were considered for the role of Boyce. 
• It was shot on two sound stages and real sets at Alwernia Planet, just outside Kraków.

In a distant future, Earth is now a grim wasteland known as the Lost Lands, after death rained down and doomed humanity. Ruled by the Overlord and tightly controlled by the Church, freedom is just an illusion. 

Gray Alys, a witch, is about to be executed by The Enforcer, but she escapes using her magic, leaving a trail of chaos behind. She is called 'The witch that will not hang.'

She seeks shelter with a blind witch. Not long after, she is summoned by the Queen, who needs a werewolf’s power before the next full moon. Gray Alys is tasked with hunting the beast Sardor. 

The Queen hates the dying Overlord and plans to take full control. But it seems that Jerais, the Queen's confidante, has his own agenda - he wants Gray to fail the Queen's wish.

Boyce, a lone wanderer, survives the Lost Lands with grit and guns, fighting off ambushes with a two-headed snake. Gray Alys reconnects with Boyce, her ex-lover, for help. The Enforcer and the Church, led by a traitorous Patriarch, are hell-bent on stopping Alys. Friends die, alliances break and the hunt leads to Skull River.

At the Skull River, the truth comes out. 

Boyce is the werewolf and Gray Alys knew all along. Under the full moon, she kills him with silver claws and delivers his pelt to the Queen. Jerais, once loyal, turns on the Queen and she kills him when she learns he knew about Boyce. She is now looking forward to ruling the Lost Lands, now that she is with child fathered by Boyce and she had killed Overlord. 

The Lost Lands erupt into rebellion after the Patriach was killed. The people wants to overthrow the Queen. She flees. 

What will happen to the Lost Lands? Who will rule it now?

MY REVIEW

What I Like:  

• YAS! Milla is back with the as$-kicking scenes.   
• I love the twist at the end. 

What I Don't Like:

• Why did I feel like I was watching Fifth Element movie, again?
• Some of the CGIs was bad. 

Will I Watch It Again: I probably would, but not my in my priority list.
